We are still working out some of the final details of the route, but wanted to communicate what we do have worked out so you can get it on the calendar and start planning. With the Covid-19 stuff making for a very unpredictable situation in the world recently, we have sort of drug our feet making final plans this year wanting to make sure we didn't start registration before it appeared we could actually do this thing.
Anyway, this year we will be starting back in Arcadia at the Route 66 Softball Complex near Pops. One lesson learned from starting there back in 2016 was that we needed access to the restrooms. We have that this year, so that one small detail should help make it an even better place to take off from.
We will be heading east on Route 66 and ultimately making a loop on all two lanes to end in historic Guthrie at Jerry's Wrecker where we will be able to check out his collection of restored cars and wreckers, a 1946 bus restored and converted into an RV, a restored 1947 car transporter, a restored Valentine diner, etc. This is a private collection that we are fortunate to be able to check out along with a salvage that still has many classics and parts in it as well.
Daddy D's BBQ will be back serving us some amazing food as we have also had previously.
Registration opens at 7:30 am and we will cruise out at 9. More details to come as we get final plans made on route and any possible stops along the way.
The focus of the event will be the same as previous years and for cars and trucks 1972 and older.
This will be a rain or shine event and unless we end up in some sort of lockdown caused by Covid-19, we will make the run. We know we want to get out and drive after the year we have been through and suspect others do as well...
